There are many sports activities that can be practiced in the Land of Eagles: for sports fans and lovers of nature and outdoor activities, there are really a lot of choices to give yourself an exciting adventure full of emotions dedicated to exploring unpolluted places.

Numerous possibilities: trekking, mountain biking, rafting, paragliding, free climbing and hiking, horseback riding, diving, etc.

Diving and water sports

The strong point of the Land of Eagles is the sea with all its possible phenomena: therefore you will not miss sports activities that can be practiced in crystal clear waters and along more than 450 kilometers of coastline. Swimming in the sea or in one of the many lakes, rivers and freshwater springs also scattered inland, diving in places rich in marine flora and fauna such as the Karaburun Peninsula in Saranda or in search of ancient ruins of merchant ships or warships dating back to world wars in the bays of Durres, Vlora and Saranda and the Drin River. But don’t forget canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, as well as jet skiing.

Rafting

Albania is an ideal place for sports that raise your adrenaline and emotions, such as: 26 kilometers down the canyon of the river Osum, the largest in Albania and one of the most famous in Europe, created over millions of years thanks to water erosion, with high names such as ..Djavolska Vrata, Katedrala i Oko, jagged waterfalls, rocky walls tens of meters high and narrow passages even a meter and a half. The unpolluted nature and biodiversity that characterize the entire course of the Osum River make the area a unique and protected heritage of both Albania and the world. Another necessity is the descent along the fast Vjosa at the foot of Mount Nemerck, as well as along Valbona in the Albanian Alps

Mountainbike

For lovers of two-wheeled pedals, Albania is a real paradise: for those who do mountain biking, the Albanian Alps in the northern part of the country and the Dajti Mountains offer exciting roads and beautiful views. For lovers of cycling tourism, the largest cities in the country, starting from Tirana, Durres, Vlora, Pogradec, Shkodra, are all equipped with bike paths and therefore it is easy to visit them by bike. The enchanting bike path on the shores of Lake Pogradec is moderately difficult, while the panoramic path that crosses the Llogara National Park and from Vlora to the Ionian coast is more suitable for trained cyclists, but especially suggestive in bays and harbors.

Paragliding and tandem flight

Albania is one of the most beautiful countries in the world where this adrenaline sport can be practiced: in May 2017, the 9th edition of the World Paragliding Championship was organized, waiting ten days in the district of Wallonia for dances and performances by world famous champions of this spectacular sport. are events dedicated to this sport, followed each other with the enthusiasm of many enthusiasts and spectators. Trekking & Hiking

Albania’s extraordinary landscapes provide an opportunity to walk easy trails and challenging hikes or climbs in the Alpine regions. For mountaineering enthusiasts, Albania is an ideal destination: from north to south there are many places not to be missed, starting with the Gjipa canyon which offers about seventy itineraries with difficulty levels from 4 to 7b +, and numerous sectors starting from “Garten Eden”, “Pfeiler” with difficulty 7a +, “Rote Vand” with a route 84 meters high, “Ladi” with over 15 difficulties with difficulties from 5b to 7a +, “Rio” inside the canyon, and then always in the shade, ending the Sector “sea” with 9 itineraries near the sea and 8 to 18 meters high. The second area is Lake Bovilla within the Dajti Mountain National Park in northern Tirana, and the third sample is the Langarica Canyon in Permet, in southern Albania, between Gjirokastra and Berat.

Horse riding

An interesting and romantic way of getting to know Albania, which is in full contact with nature, allows you to travel on paths that cannot be reached by car and to unpolluted places in the region. Many roads are nothing but ancient roads passed by caravans crossing stone bridges, dense forests, remote and clean grassy villages. This sport can be practiced even by people with little experience in everyday walks, but, for true enthusiasts, do not miss the tournament in Zagorje, starting with Gjirokastra. In some places in the Albanian Alps, mountain crossings can still be crossed even on the backs of mules or donkeys.
